About Attorney Mercedes Riggs
I’m Mercedes Riggs, and I'm a sole practitioner whose practice focuses on American immigration law. I reunite loved ones separated by oceans and immigration laws. I help businesses solve labor shortages. I love working as an immigration attorney since a lot of my job is enabling families and loved ones to be together after extended periods of separation. As someone who's family is extremely important them, this is my favorite part of my job. I can also relate to my clients, since my family lives on the other side of the country, and although I'm close to them, I don't see them in person as often as I would like. I started my own practice so that I can maximize my time with my family, and I work to ensure that my clients get to be with their families.
I went to Stanford and majored in Product Design because I wanted to design things. After that, I took a left turn and decided to go to Santa Clara University School of Law because I wanted to help people protect their designs and protect their property. At some point, my interests broadened from intellectual property law to other areas of law, and the more I learned about immigration law, the more I realized that this is the area on which I wanted to focus.
I face tough problems head on. I deal with complicated legalese and forms so clients don’t have to. I research complicated legal issues to figure out the best way to approach a tough situation. I present options. I navigate legal swamps and pull people from the muck. I love what I do.
I'm licensed in Washington state.
