UPDATE: Bill to Delay Government Shutdown

On December 20, 2018 President Donald Trump informed the public that he would not

be signing the Senate-passed spending bill that was unanimously approved by the Senate just the

day before. The Senate hoped that the president would sign the bill to prevent a government

shutdown and provide government funding through February 8, 2018. President Trump is

seeking a budget of $5 billion to build the border wall or some sort of border security stating

that, “any measure that funds the government must include border security.” The president

threats to shut down the government if Congress does not pass a promising budget for the wall

has many lawmakers scrambling to make compromises. It is unclear on whether or not President

Trump will get his desired budget for his wall but what it clear is that there is no avoiding a

Christmas government shutdown.
