Government Shutdown Impact on USCIS

Despite the recent news of the United States government shutdown the U.S. Citizenship

and Immigration Services offices will remain open until further notice. The United States

government does not affect USCIS’s fee-funded activities. Therefore, all individuals should still

attend their interviews and appointments as scheduled. USCIS will continue to accept petitions

and applications despite the government shutdown. Listed below are USCIS programs that will

ultimately be affected by the government shutdown until they receive funds: EB-5 Immigrant

Investor Regional Center Program, E-Verify, Conrad 30 Waiver Program for J-1 medical

doctors, and Non-minister religious workers. If you have any questions or concerns please feel

free to ask an immigration attorney.
