Kushner's Immigration Plan
President Trump is said to unveil details of the new White House immigration plan drafted by Jared Kushner, White House adviser Stephen Miller and economic adviser Kevin Hassett later today. During a GOP Senate briefing this past Tuesday, many officials stated that the White House’s presentation of the immigration plan lacked substance. The plan did not address the millions of undocumented immigrants currently residing in the United States or the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The proposal for the immigration plan did however mention President Trump’s construction for the border wall along “priority” locations in which would result in a “higher immigration fee” that would finance continuous upgrades of the wall. The immigration plan also mentions a new “merit-based” visa system giving preference to more ‘skilled immigrants’ who would boost the U.S. economy. Looking forward to see what new details the president will announce later today in regards to this new immigration plan.
